Building a hot rod is a hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone interested in vintage cars. Having the skills or know-how to perform every aspect of the build is very challenging. Welding is a skill that can hang up many hot rod builders. Maybe you can weld but want to be sure the welds are strong enough on key chassis components, such as split wishbones. Let the professionals at Prewar & More handle the welding. All our chassis components are tig welded with years of experience in fabricating and welding and we can split your wishbones the safe and correct way. 

The Process: Your wishbones will be cut at the weld and prepped for welding by cleaning and beveling. Brand new threaded bungs will be professionally tig welded on. sandblasting and epoxy priming service is available for an additional fee as well as removing and dressing off front spring mounts on 1935-48 wishbones.

Bung Thread Sizes:

  • 11/16-18 Typical early Ford tie-rod end size. This is the most traditional style and most common on hot rods.
  • 3/4-16 Typically used for modern bushing style ends provided by many street rod parts suppliers. Recommended on high horsepower builds

Step 3: Ship your wishbones and service form to the address on the form. Be sure to package your items well as we are not responsible for damage from shipping. You may cut your wishbone next to the ball to save on shipping cost.
